Moving

About a month ago, our family moved across the country.  I knew it was going to be hard, but I think I underestimated how much work and stress it would be.  That being said, everything went about as well as it could have gone.  Our flight was on time and and it wasn't full so Ella got her own seat.  She took a good nap on the plane.  Our cars and all of our belongings arrived when they were scheduled with no or very little damage.  Lastly, we found a house to rent within a couple of days of getting into Indianapolis.

We still have unpacking to do.  The master bedroom needs a little work and the garage needs a lot of work.  However, most of the rest of the house is unpacked.  This is the last box that needs to be unpacked in the living room. It is still about half full- I think the rest of it is full of wine glasses, which we have plenty of :)

Despite all the hard work of moving, I am so thankful to be closer to family and in the midwest.  I am also thankful that we got here in time for my favorite season!

Wordless Wednesday

8 months

My little girl is now 8 months old.  Ella keeps doing so much fun, new stuff.  She now gets up on all fours in crawling position.  She rocks back and forth and scoots backwards, but is not crawling yet.  She REALLY likes to stand up.  If we put her sitting up in her crib, she can pull herself to standing.

Ella seems to be mad that she is not really mobile right now.  We try to keep her happy by putting her standing next to the crib or ottoman and putting toys on top for her to grab at.

She does pretty well at keeping her balance leaning on these things, but we are always right there because eventually she topples over.  Ella is continuing to talk now making s and th sounds.  I thought she used to be to make more mama sounds, but lately it is dada all day long.  Here are some of here monthly pics on her bear and other stuff she has been doing.

Ella 7 months

Wow! It has been a long time since I posted on here.  I blame going back to work.  I am going to try to get back to putting up monthly updates on Ella.  She has really learned a lot during the last month.  She is sitting up and rolling all over the place to get the toy she wants.   She now has 2 teeth and is talking a lot.  It often sounds like she is saying da da.  She looks so big on her bear now!

Ella 2 months

Ella had her 2 month doctor's appointment where she weighed in at 11 pounds and measured 22 1/2 inches long.  This is around the 60th percentile.  She also had 4 shots.  Ella looked startled for about a second and then let out a loud "waaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!"  

Ella is starting to have longer periods of awake time.  She is happy laying on a blanket or sitting in her bouncy seat for 10-15 minutes.   She is starting to smile all the time, although I still have a tough time capturing it on camera.  Ella keeps on "talking" more and more, making new sounds all the time.

Ella 7 weeks

I took this video last week during Ella's favorite time of the day- anytime she gets her diaper changed.  She has started to move her arms and legs a lot more, and makes more noises too.

Ella's Baptism

Ella was baptized this past Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Desert Cross Lutheran Church in Tempe, Arizona. 

Ella wore the same dress that I wore when I was baptized.

Christmas 2010

I wanted to post about our first Christmas with Ella before I forget what we did.  It was pretty low key.  It was just Jake, Ella, and me at our house in Chandler.  We spent the morning doing our usual routine with Ella-feeding her and changing diapers-as well giving her a bath.  In the afternoon, we opened presents.  Ella had more presents than Jake and me combined.

She slept the entire time we opened gifts.  Ella got so many cute gifts from family. 

These pajamas are 12 months.  It's hard to believe that Ella will be that big in a year!

 

We had filet mignon for dinner and then took a walk in the 70 degree weather.  Doesn't Jake look cute pushing a stroller?
